Deonna Lynn Davis

Journey of Life Deonna Lynn Davis Deonna Lynn Mallory Davis was born on November 8, 1955 to the late Jefferson and Argentina Mallory in Paterson, New Jersey. She was the youngest of three children. She was educated in the Paterson Public School district and graduated from Eastside High School in 1973. She studied Early Childhood Education and Social Work at Passaic Counting Community College, Bloomfield College, Montclair State University, The College of New Jersey and Jersey City University. Deonna, or Dee as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, had strong Christian values, which were instilled in her by her mother, early on as a priority in her daily walk of life. These values a powerful force impressed upon her and her siblings. At the age of 13 while worshiping at the Neighborhood Baptist Church she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. In 1995 she became a disciple of the St. Luke Baptist Church. These principles gave her roots and a foundation that would anchor her as an adult. Deonna met and married Albert Davis. Their union was blessed with two children, Jhia Yvette and Jalen Gerard. In 1993, she was called to touch the life of a small child, Brandon Michael, her love compelled her to adopt him and thus her family was enlarged. She had a close loving relationship with William, Tiffany, Deshantela, Deana and Dean Rogers and also considered them her children. Deonna retired after thirty or more years of service in education. Her love and compassion for children was unparalleled. Her smile and wisdom were always on display. In addition to her love for children she loved the church. She served as a member on several ministries. On Sunday, July 23, 2023, Deonna peacefully transitioned from labor to reward at the St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center located in Paterson, NJ. Her love, memory, inspiration and prayers will be engraved in the hearts of her life partner Dino Pone, her three children, Jhia Yvette Davis-Burns, Jalen Gerard Davis, Sr. and Brandon Michael Davis. She leaves to cherish her legacy four grandchildren, Ja’Nye Davis, Jalen Davis, Jr., Avionna Davis, and Jye Brown. One son-in-law Rashad Burns and one daughter-in-law Markeitta Davis. A devoted sister, Rhonda Yvette Hale and brother James Edward Mallory and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, her St. Luke family, and her big fur baby Mace.
