Davis McKinley King

Davis M. King was born on February 2, 1942. On July 12, 2015, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, he returned to the loving arms of Jesus. Davis (David) was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Deacon Gracious and Deaconess Fannie L. King. At an early age David joined Union Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Reverend T.H. Alexander. He attended church and Sunday school there with his sister Ruby. He also attended Passaic Public Schools and graduated from Passaic High School. David was formerly married to Ernestine Harris. This union born one son, the late David K. King and one grandson, Kerry D. King. In 1983 he met his soul mate and devoted companion, Sheila Mason, the unity of this relationship conceived one son Michael D. King. David loved and enjoyed life. He enjoyed watching and playing baseball. He played for his high school team and later for Passaic Recreational Soft ball teams. It seems as if the whole town would gather for these games at #11 School Park. David was a good player and was even invited to try out for the New York Mets. He loved listening to Jazz & the blues and the music of Nancy Wilson. . David had an outgoing personality. He was a member of the Masons, Passaic Chapter; The Veteran's Pool Room and Neil's Midtown Social Club. Everywhere David went he was the life of the party. He was fast and witty and his incredible sense of humor was infectious. He would have a crowd laughing within seconds. . When David was younger his quick mind attracted him to the fast life of the Numbers Games. Up until recent times he talked about that period of this life with fascination and stated that he worked with amazing and admirable people who became longtime devoted friends. David was well known and easily remembered by his "yellow" Corvette. Later in life David owned and operated a trucking business with his father named King's Trucking. He recently worked as a dispatcher for Arrow Pac Trucking Company. . David was predeceased by his son David K. King, his mother Deaconess Fannie L. Hodges King and his father Deacon Gracious King. - He is survived by his son Michael D. King, his grandson Kerry D. King, his Fiancé Sheila Mason. Sisters Ruby King Hand, Lawana King Obi and Rose Jefferson. Brother in Laws Francis Obi and Robert Hand. Former wife Ernestine Harris Siegel. Nieces Simone Hand, Laurene Stroud and Robin Solomon. Nephews Derrick Hand, Kevin Hand and Toksy Obi. Special family members Jermaine (Jamie) Murry, Tara Mason and Sean Mason. Devoted and long time friends Floydd Artice, Maurice Johnson, Freddie Gibson, Herman Starr, Marva Blacknell and Shag Austin and a host of other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed.
